A youth from Karnataka, who was declared brain dead, donated his hands to a man from Puducherry who lost his hands in a crusher accident.

In a report from ToI, the youth, a telecom employee, met with an accident on November 15 and despite repeated attempts to save him, was declared brain dead on November 19. The hands were preserved in a chemical solution, covered in ice slush and transported 300 km from Bengaluru to the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research.
Saved seven lives

The youth not only donated his hands but also his heart, liver, kidneys, eyes and heart valves for transplant. The heart is reported to have gone to an 18-year-old in Madhya Pradesh who was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart cannot pump blood effectively due to the organ enlarging.

His liver was donated to a 67-year-old in Bengaluru who was suffering from liver cancer and was on the wait list since August 2018. Apart from these, his organs were sent to other hospitals for transplants.
