Last Updated 29 March 2019, 19:32 IST

MLC Ayanur Manjunath said if Congress is monopolised by one family, BJP reveres Bharath Matha.

After Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, respect for India had doubled in international circles, he added.

He was addressing a gathering at BJP Page Pramukh’s convention, organised by North Mandala of BJP In Kavoor on Friday.

“In BJP, a grassroots-level worker can become a Prime Minister. Vajpayee had shown a new path of development in the country. Now, Modi has strengthened the country and increased the respect for Indians abroad,” said Manjunath.

He appealed voters to re-elect Nalin Kumar Kateel. He came down heavily on Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for taking to the streets over IT raids.

BJP Candidate from DK Lok Sabha constituency and incumbent MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that he was successful in getting grant of Rs 16,500 for various development works in the district.

“I have come to the street when BJP workers faced injustice and have taken part in a protest against Yettinahole project,” he added.

MLA Dr Bharath Shetty said Congress is giving a different message to the society by fielding a youth candidate facing criminal charges. In the past 10 years, Kateel has implemented fisheries jetty, widening of Kulshekar-Moodbidri Road and proposal on plastic park.

Congress candidate B Mithun Rai visited Kudupu Anantha Padmanabha Temple on Friday.

He also took part in a meeting of Gurpura and Surathkal Block level Congress workers meeting.

Rai also visited Gurupura Jangama Mutt, met Rudramuni Swami and also Bailupete Masjid.

Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that he was not worried over false propaganda against him.

“Let incumbent MP Nalin Kumar Kateel reveal the works carried out by him in the district,” said Rai.

On Thursday, he had visited Sri Manjunatha Temple at Kadri , Shirdi Saibaba Mandir near Lady Hill and St Sebastian Chruch in Bendoor.

On Thursday, Kateel had sought the blessings of the Swami of Kasi Mutt Samyamindra Tirtha in Bhagamandala.
