‘Lok Sabha poll results an answer to unholy alliance’

Last Updated 23 May 2019, 19:12 IST

As soon as Mysore-Kodagu constituency BJP candidate Prathap Simha’s victory was announced, the BJP workers across Kodagu district started celebrating.

The BJP workers celebrated the victory at Indira Gandhi Circle in Madikeri and shouted slogans in favour of Modi and distributed sweets.

Earlier, a team of leaders led by MLC Sunil Subramani visited Kote Ganapathi Temple and offered special puja.
Later, they arrived at Indira Gandhi Circle and distributed sweets.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Subramani said, “There is an unholy alliance in Karnataka. As a result, the development of the state is not possible. The Lok Sabha election results have given the right answer to the unholy alliance. With the blessings of voters from Kodagu, Prathap Simha was able to win for the second consecutive term.”

“We had expected Prathap Simha to win by a margin of 1 lakh votes. The Modi led government will help in the development of the district,” he added.

Former CMC members P D Ponnappa, K S Ramesh, Savitha Rakesh, Anitha and others were present.

As Section 144 was in force, the police personnel did not allow the party workers to gather in groups. As a result, the celebrations ended within a few minutes.

As a majority of the voters were glued to the TV to watch the results unfold, roads in Madikeri wore a deserted look.

The business in the shops was dull. Many were seen calling those who had gone to Mysuru to get the latest election results. The roads came back to life after 3 pm.
