She was speaking at the felicitation ceremony for meritorious students organised by Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi at Kaveri Kalakshetra in Madikeri.
“Students should chalk out plans for their future during the college days. Basappa couple from Makkandoor become a model for others by educating their girl children,” she said.
Dr Devadas of District Hospital called upon the parents to impart education to their children. Nearly 100 meritorious students were felicitated.
Basappa-Manjula couple were honoured with the ‘Dalit Rathna’ award on the occasion. The labourer couple had educated all their four girl children. The children are pursuing their PG studies and PhD now.
