Security in place for Modi’s M’luru visit today

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Mangaluru city for the visit of rime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM will take part in an election rally at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru, on Saturday.

According to City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil, a total of 1,472 police personnel including five SP/DCP, 10 DySP/ACP, 36 police inspectors, 67 PSIs, 147 ASIs, 1,207 head constables/police constables will be deployed for security. In addition, 92 HG, 5 KSRP, 19 CAR, and 2 CRPF platoons will be deployed for law and order maintenance.

Patil said that special teams have been constituted to check the venue, Mangaluru International Airport and the routes where the PM’s cavalcade will pass through. CCTV cameras have been installed at Nehru Maidan.

As a precautionary measure, all the hotels and lodges have been checked, the commissioner added. Police are on high alert at the railway station and other strategic locations in Mangaluru.

The labourers erecting the dais have been issued duty passes by the police depart ment. Police have been guarding the Nehru Maidan for 24 hours.

All those who enter the football ground are being thoroughly checked and a separate register has been maintained to register their name and address.

Parking

Patil has banned the parking of vehicles on either side of the road from Mangaluru International Airport to Nehru Maidan from 8 am till PM leaves the city.

The traffic diversion and ban on parking would be in force till Modi leaves the city from the airport on Saturday.

All the city, service and inter-district buses should alight passengers at Jyothi, Mangaladevi and Navabharath Circle from 1 pm to 7 pm and then proceed. KSRTC buses should travel via Pumpwell-Nanthoor-KPT-Kuntikana-KSRTC bus stand.

All the buses ferrying people to PM’s rally, entering city from Udupi-Mulki-Surathkal, Kateel-Bajpe-Kavoor-Kuloor-Kottara Chowki should drop them at Navabharath Circle and park the buses at Karavali Utsav grounds, Urwa Market ground, Ladyhill Church ground and Kuloor Goldfinch City Ground.

Cars that ferry people to the programme should be parked at Canara High School ground at Mannagudde.

The buses from Karkala-Moodbidri-Sullia-Puttur-Belthangady- Bantwal-BC Road should enter the city through Nanthoor and drop the people at Ambedkar Circle and park the buses at Ramakrishna School ground, Kadri Maidan, Padavu High School ground, and Agnes School ground. The cars should be parked at Shanti Nilaya Ground at Balmatta.

Buses ferrying participants from Ullal, Konaje, Deralakatte, Uppala, Kasargod, Thokkottu, Pumpwell, Kankanady and alight them at Mangaladevi and park the buses at Emmekere Ground, Vamana Naik Ground and Nandigudde and cars should be parked at Morgan Gate grounds.
