Modi calls to oust Gowda family

Last Updated 07 May 2019, 09:23 IST

He was addressing Vijay Sankalpa Yatra rally for Annasaheb Jolle and Suresh Angadi, BJP candidates from Chikkodi and Belgaum parliamentary constituencies, in Chikkodi on Thursday.

Kumaraswamy has said that those who cannot afford for two square meals join the armed forces. What kind of language is this? Remarks made by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy against the jawans and the forces were not acceptable. People should teach the Gowda family a befitting lesson, he said.

“When it comes to national security, people from the poor and the middle-class background are playing a vital role. The chief minister has insulted them. If the Congress-led alliance comes to power at the Centre, it will not hesitate from taking the protective gear off soldiers,” he charged.

“Congress wants to repeal the Armed Forces Special Protect Act (AFSPA), dilute sedition laws and thereby support the separatists and those throwing stones at the jawans. Dilution of such laws will lead to cases being filed against the forces and thereby forcing the personnel of defence forces to appear in court,” Modi said.

Coalition partners in Karnataka, the Congress and the JD(S), are divided on a range of issues but united on four issues - anti-nationalism, dynasty politics, corruption and bashing Modi.

Voters should decide whether they want to vote for nationalism or those conspiring to divide the country, corruption or terrorism, he said.

Taking a dig at KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao for equating Hindutva with opium, Modi said, “State Congress president who attends Naamdars darbar has termed our faith afeem (opium). It only shows his culture. Such language is not acceptable.”

During the speech, he asked the gathering whether they were happy with the firmness he had worked with. “Are you happy? We entered inside Pakistan and hit (terrorists) are you happy? Do we have to take revenge for the killing of our jawans or not? Do you trust the army on their bravery? Congress don’t believe our brave and believe in Pakistan’s evidence.”

“Nation will become strong only if the government is strong and stable. And a stable government is only possible through a strong chowkidar. Your vote to the BJP candidate here will go straight into Modi’s account,” he said.
