Not just Revanna, entire JD(S) will retire: BSY

Last Updated 12 April 2019, 12:49 IST

In reply to PWD Minister H D Revanna's statement that he would retire from politics if Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister again, State BJP president BS Yeddyurappa stated that not just Revanna, people would make his family-dominated JD(S) party itself retire, when Lok Sabha election results come on May 23.

"Revanna says that coalition would win 22 seats in the State, based on his lucky number, and having lemon in his hands. But, we predict the number based on people's opinion. We will win over 300 seats across the country, including 22 sears in Karnataka," he said.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Yeddyurappa noted that the BJP would get unprecedented support this time, with a stronger Modi wave. Even Congress leader Janardhan Pujari said that Modi should become the prime minister for two more terms, he recalled.

'Frustrated CM'

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's statement about Pulwama attack shows his moral deterioration. He is giving anti-Constitution and anti-people statements and is also threatening the media. He has become desperate with Sumalatha contesting in Mandya, Yeddyurappa observed.

"We did not stage protest when IT raids were conducted on BJP leaders. Now, JD(S) and Congress leaders are protesting IT raids, as money collected for their parties for elections is being unearthed. Kumaraswamy also did not abide by his oath of secrecy, with regard to IT raids, and huge amount of money was shifted before the raids," he charged.

Family politics

People are fed up with the family politics of JD(S). H D Deve Gowda's sons, daughters-in-law, and now, even grandsons are in politics, Yeddyurappa said.

When asked about his family members and other BJP leaders in politics, he said, "it is okay if one or two members of a family are in politics".

'Govt in ICU'

Congress-JD(S) coalition government is in the ICU and is slipping to comma. With the severe respiratory problem, its end is nearing, Yeddyurappa said satirically.

After the BJP would win more seats in Lok Sabha elections, confusion would start in Congress-JD(S) alliance, and infighting would explode. BJP would take a suitable decision then, he noted.

Congress and JD(S) leaders tried to create confusion by raising Lingayat-Veerashaiva issue in Assembly elections. That would not matter now, and Lingayat leaders are with the BJP, he added.

Yeddyurappa refused to comment on BJP leader B L Santhosh's statement about denying ticket to Ananth Kumar's wife Tejaswini.

BJP candidate Pralhad Joshi, MLAs Jagadish Shettar, Aravind Bellad, and others were present.

Dr Mahesh Nalwad, Hoovappa Daygodi and their supporters joined the BJP in the presence of Yeddyurappa.
