910 victims get shelter in 9 relief centres: DC

As many as 371 families have sought shelter in nine flood relief centres set up at different places in Kodagu district.

"A total of 910 flood victims, including 456 women, are staying in these relief camps," Kodagu Deputy Commissioner P I Srividya said.

The relief materials received from different sources have been stocked in the Government Model Primary School's new building and APMC warehouses in Kushalnagar, she said.

The deputy commissioner said additional relief materials from the government have arrived in the district on October 1. Three vehicles have been arranged to supply the materials through Panchayat development officers, revenue officials and Gram Panchayat representatives, she added.

As many as eight relief centres set up in Madikeri taluk alone have provided shelter to 270 families and 101 families have taken shelter at a relief centre in Somvarpet taluk, she said.
