ABVP demands removal of chapter from textbook

Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) urged Mangalore University to remove the chapter ‘Keerthana Sahitya Charithre’ from the Kannada textbook ‘Sahitya Sodaru’ prescribed for undergraduate students.

A release by ABVP Mangaluru city secretary Vikas Katipalla said: “In the name of teaching the history of literature, false and derogatory information is being published on Dasa Sahitya. The university is misleading the student community,” he alleged.

“The textbook editor has insulted Vedic tradition. It is a conspiracy to brainwash students who are yet to develop rational thinking. The chapter should be withdrawn from the textbook and action should be initiated against the editorial board of the textbook committee,” he added.
