Aloysian Lit Fest from Feb 9 to 16

The Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in English, St Aloysius College will organise ‘Aloysian Literature Festival’ from February 9 to 16.

College Principal
Fr Pravin Martis said that, “the fest will be inaugurated by St Aloysius Institutions Rector Fr Dionysius Vaz, at LCRI block of the college campus in the city on February 9 at 9 am.”

A national seminar on ‘ecology and literature’ and workshops in film appreciation, theatre and arts appreciation and cartoons will be organised as a part of the festival, Fr Martis said.

‘Ninasam Tirugata’ team will perform ‘Sethu Bhandana’, written and directed by Akshara K V on February 9 at 7 pm and ‘Ashcharya Choodamani’ written by Shakthi Bhadra, translated by Venkataramana Aithal and directed by Joseph John, will be staged at the college premises on February 10 at 7 pm.

The film appreciation workshop will be held on February 9 and 10. National award winning film director Abhaya Simha will be the resource person for the seminar.

Jnanpith awardee
Dr Chandrashekar Kambar will inaugurate a two- day national seminar on ecology and literature on February 11. Professor Pramod K Nayar from the University of Hyderabad will deliver a keynote address. ‘Amrutha Ghalige’, a play authored by Dr Saraswati Head of Kannada department from St Aloysius College, will be released during the inauguration of the seminar by Dr Kambar. Research papers will be presented by experts on February 11 and 12.

A theatre and art appreciation workshop entitled ‘Playing the World: Intuition, Inquiry, Insight: A workshop in cultural studies and critical thinking’ will be conducted by poet, playwright and stage director Raghunandana on February 13, 14 and 15.

Cartoonist Satish Archarya will be conducting a workshop on ‘creating editorial cartoons’ on February 16,Fr Martis said.

The valedictory programme of Aloysian Literature Festival will be held on February 16. St Aloysius College Mafeii block Director and PG Studies Dean
Dr Loveena Lobo will be the guest of honour.
