West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee had reached out to Congress president Sonia Gandhi with an offer for an alliance in the Goa Assembly poll but had failed to evoke any positive response from the grand old party, TMC national vice-president Pavan K Varma said.

The Congress, which is not very keen on having an alliance with the TMC, called it “an untrustworthy ally", which is trying to grow at its expense. Isolation of TMC at the national level has forced Mamata Banerjee to reach out to it, the Congress said.

Goa Public Works Department Minister Deepak Prabhu Pauskar on Friday resigned as an MLA, as a Minister and from the BJP's primary membership, a day after he was denied a ticket to contest from the Sanvordem assembly constituency.

Former MLA and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Rajeshwar Bansal has resigned from the party after his son was refused ticket from Shamli assembly seat.

Bansal and his son, Akhil Bansal, sent their resignations to party leader Jayant Chaudhary on Thursday.

The SP-RLD alliance has given ticket to Prasanna Chaudhary from Shamli constituency who filed his nomination on Tuesday.

Rajeshwar Bansal, a former MLA from Kairana, had demanded ticket for his son Akhil Bansal from Shamli.

"We will provide 40 per centreservations for girls in government jobs. A job calendar will be made and strictly followed for better employment opportunities in the state. Posters questioning the appointment of an alleged history-sheeter Hari Shankar akaRaju Yadavas BJP's city convener have come up in Mathura.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has expelled former minister Uma Kiran for six years for 'anti-party' activities.

The expulsion was announced by SP district president Pramod Tyagi.

Tyagi said that Uma Kiran was allegedly demanding party ticket from Purkazi seat and was miffed at not being given.

She has been given a ticket from the seat by Azad Samaj Party, led by Chandra Shekhar Azad, and was also seen in a press conference with him, which led to her expulsion.
