Cracking down on land sharks in North Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on February 11 reclaimed 5.5 acres of land in Jakkur ward limits that were encroached and converted into a private layout.

According to BBMP officials, the land was identified for setting up a biomethanation plant at Kogilu in Bytarayanapura subdivision of Yelahanka zone.

The BBMP officials led by Joint Commissioner (SWM) Sarfaraz Khan and engineers demolished the compound walls built around the encroached land, drains and other structures that were built on the land. Officials have been directed to register FIR against the culprits.
