Kannada film producer Shankar Gowda was arrested on Tuesday evening in a case of drug peddling and abuse.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) S D Sharanappa said that Gowda was arrested based on the evidence collected so far in the Govindapura drugs case. He has been booked under sections 25, 27A, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Police believe Gowda sourced drugs from Nigerian peddlers through his office staff and Bigg Boss Kannada contestant Mastan Chandra, and hosted parties in his office.

Police nabbed a few foreign nationals on charges of drug peddling and learnt that they were supplying drugs to people linked to Sandalwood. Police initially raided the house of Chandra. On March 8, they raided Gowda’s office and residence in Dollars Colony. Police first questioned him and subjected him to medical test.

Police also summoned Tollywood actor Tanish in connection with the case and questioned him for two days. He was also subjected to inquiry. Gowda’s office staff was also questioned.
