A 23-year-old rowdy-sheeter who vandalised Congress block office in Cholurpalya to create fear psychosis was shot on his leg by KP Agrahara police on Sunday.

When Shashikiran attacked a head constable with a machete, KP Agrahara Inspector SS Manju shot at him on the leg. Shashikiran has nine criminal cases pending against him.

Police said Shashikiran barged into the Congress office last Wednesday, vandalised the vehicles parked outside the office and ransacked the office premises to create fear psychosis. A complaint has been filed against him.

Later, a special team was formed to nab him. Based on a tip-off, a team rushed to Binni Mill canteen near Railway underbridge, surrounded Shashikiran and asked him to surrender. But Shashikiran attacked head constable Nagaraju in a bid to escape. Manju shot Shashikiran on the right leg. He was taken into custody and admitted to nearby hospital. Constable Nagaraju is also admitted to hospital.

KP Agrahara police said Shashikiran has nine criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robbery and various other cases pending in various police stations.

DCP (West) Ravi D Channannavar said the accused was arrested in one of the cases and sent to judicial custody. After walking out on bail recently, Shashikiran continued his activities. The rowdy-sheeter has been remanded to judicial custody.
