While some like to eat the whole fruit and savour the delicious pulpy juice till the last drop, others prefer it sliced.</p>.<p>The pleasure of seeing the red and yellow fleshy fruit on the plate served as a dessert is enough to make the kids finish the food without any complaint. The fruit laden with load of nutrients is an added advantage.The art of eating ripe mangoes begin from the youngest possible age and continues till their last breath and resisting these delicious fruits available in a lot of varieties is next to impossible.<br /><br />While several fruits like water melon, jack fruit and others which are said to be seasonal fruits are available throughout the year, it is a long wait for the mango lovers as it is available only during the season.<br /><br />The recent showers have brought hope among the mango merchants who says that fresh fruits will arrive soon and see brisk business.<br /><br />Speaking to City Herald, one of the mango merchants at mango mandi in Mysore said that the arrival of fruits are less when compared to previous year. The yield is usually more on alternate years and this year the yield is less. Mango growers are also suffering from lack of labourers to pick the mangoes.<br /><br />‘If you want to savour a ripe mango from the tree, then it should be right from your garden’, the vendor says as it is impossible to pluck ripe mangoes as the chances of damage is more during transportation and storage. Hence, the mangoes are plucked when it is raw, stored in boxes after sprinkling it with ripening agents, which are nothing but chemicals, and then comes to market looking fresh.<br /><br />The varieties that are available in the market and sold by vendors at every nook and corner of the city are Sendhoora, Malgova, Raspuri and Badami.<br /><br />While Sendhoora is available at Rs 35 per kg, Malgova and Raspuri are sold between Rs 35 to 45, depending on the place it is sold.
