Raj and DK, the directors of the upcoming web series The Family Man Season 2, have taken to Twitter to confirm that the Amazon original will not be released on February 12. They said that that team has been working quite hard to ensure that the show lives up to expectations and assured fans that it will stream on the popular OTT platform sometime this summer.
This announcement comes at a time when Amazon Prime Video has received flak for its series Tandav. The Saif Ali Khan-starrer, touted to be a political-thriller, revolved around the journey of an ambitious politician while highlighting his quest for power. A few feathers were ruffled due to a scene that featured Zeeshan Ayyub as Lord Shiva.
An FIR was also filed against the makers of the web series Mirzapur 2 for 'spoiling the image' of Mirzapur, a town in Uttar Pradesh.
The Family Man 2 has, meanwhile, created a buzz among fans as it is touted to be better than the gripping first season. It stars Manoj Bajpayee in the role of a skilled spy, who deals with dangers while trying to strike a balance between his personal and professional life. It stars Tollywood actor Samantha Akkineni in a key role and will mark her OTT debut. The 'Akkineni Bahu' apparently essays the role of a Hyderabad-based woman in the series. She had previously said that she is looking forward to reaching a wider audience with the series.
The cast includes Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi and Mime Gopi.
While The Family Man Season 2 has been postponed, Manoj has plenty to look forward to this year. He will be seen alongside Neena Gupta in the thriller Dial 100. He has also agreed to star in a movie to be helmed by Kanu Behl, who had wielded the microphone for the critically-acclaimed movie Titli.
