Punjab Police arrest 2 wanted criminals, recover 4 kg heroin, 2 pistols from them

Punjab Police on Sunday said they have arrested two criminals, wanted in multiple cases, and recovered four kgs heroin along with two pistols, ammunition and cash from them.

"In a major breakthrough, @TarnTaranPolice has arrested two notorious criminals wanted in multiple cases and recovered 4 Kg heroin, along with 2 pistols, 18 live cartridges, Rs 2.6 lakh drug money and a car," Punjab's Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav said in a tweet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated boxers Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zareen for winning gold medals at the Boxing World Championships.

Congratulating Zareen for her spectacular victory at the World Boxing Championships to win a gold in 50 Kg light flyweight category, he tweeted: "Congratulations to Nikhat Zareen for her spectacular victory at the World Boxing Championships and winning a Gold. She is an outstanding champion whose success has made India proud on many occasions".

Kerala SC/ST petrol pump owners to stage token hunger strike before HPCL Mumbai

The Kerala Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe petroleum pump owners association will stage a one day token hunger strike in front of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) office in Mumbai on May 15 to protest termination of petroleum dealership of SC/ST people.

Association President C.K. Mohini, in a statement, said that the HPCL did not comply with the procedure of conducting personal hearing before cancelling the dealership of SC/ST people. He said that various judgments of the Supreme Court that state that the dealers have to be heard before terminating the dealership was never followed by the HPCL.

Railways to operate Vande Bharat Metro train between Jammu and Srinagar: Vaishnaw

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said a Vande Bharat Metro train will be operated between Jammu and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir once the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL) becomes fully operational.

China's vice minister of finance, Zhu Zhongming, said that China supports international accounting firms, including Deloitte, operating in China, the ministry said in a statement.

The comments came after Zhu met with Deloitte's Global Council Chairman, Shu Yawei, in Beijing on Sunday.

According to the statement, Shu said that Deloitte Global supports Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu - the firm's China presence - to accept and "resolutely implement" the administrative penalty previously handed down by the Ministry of Finance.
