BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said on Wednesday that the Congress which tried to divide Veerashaiva Lingayat community for political gains during the 2018 assembly election will not succeed in this regard in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls too.
Speaking at a press meet here, he stated that the letter written by M B Patil to Sonia Gandhi with the sole intention of dividing the community is witness to divisive politics. The people, who are aware of it, will teach a befitting lesson to the Congress in this polls.
“They created confusion to prevent me from becoming the chief minister. By resorting to vengeance politics, they tried to divide the Veerashaiva Lingayat community," Yeddyurappa said.
Reacting to Patil’s statement that the letter is fake and he is ready for probe, Yeddyurappa said that there is no meaning in demanding the probe. The BJP will win at least 11 Lok Sabha seats in the first phase of Lok Sabha election to be held in state on April 18, he said.
Chief Minister Kumaraswamy is trying ti win the election using money and muscle power in Mandya. The same situation has prevailed in Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency. Hence, the Election Commission should keep a close watch on the two seats, he appealed.
