Two minor girls and a woman were sexually assaulted in the capital in the past 24 hours.
The first incident was reported from Trilokpuri in east Delhi, where a 16-year-old boy sexually assaulted a two-and-a-half year old girl on Sunday evening, police said.
The incident came to light when the victim, who was playing outside her house in Block 26 of the area, was kidnapped by the accused. The accused then took her to an isolated place and tried to rape her. When the girl started shouting, some passers-by heard her.
Sensing trouble, the accused fled from the spot and the passers-by rescued the girl.
“We received information about the incident, and immediately apprehended the accused. As the accused is a minor, he was sent to a juvenile home,” said a senior police officer.
5-year-old abused
A five-year-old girl was raped by her landlord’s 17-year-old son on Sunday afternoon in Aman Vihar.
The incident came to light after the girl’s parents approached Aman Vihar police station and lodged a complaint against the juvenile boy. In the complaint, the victim’s parents said they were out for some work when the son of their landlord lured their daughter to an isolated place and raped her.
“The girl returned home and told her mother about the matter. The mother immediately informed her husband, and they approached local police,” a senior police officer said.
A case under appropriate sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 was filed. The girl was sent to a government hospital for medical examination, which confirmed rape. The accused was then apprehended. He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent him to an observation home.
Live-in partner raped
A 20-year-old woman residing in Prem Nagar near Alipur has accused her live-in partner of raping her by promising to marry her. The accused, Abhishek Gupta, 25, is absconding after a case of rape was filed against him on Sunday.
In her complaint, the woman said Gupta lives in her neighbourhood with his family and runs a garment shop in Prem Nagar. A few months ago, she met Gupta through a common friend and soon became friends.
They fell in love and he proposed her for marriage, to which she agreed.
“They started living together at a house in Aman Vihar, and Gupta started a physical relationship with her. When she began exerting pressure on him for marriage, Gupta refused, after which the woman approached police and filed a case against him,” said a police officer. Police are looking for Gupta.
