Action report on godman

 A Delhi court has asked the city police to apprise it of the actions it has taken on a complaint accusing self-proclaimed godman Nirmal Baba of cheating people and breaching their trust.


Metropolitan Magistrate Neeraj Gaur asked police to file an action-taken-report on the complaint of an advocate, who sought directions to police for registration of an FIR against Nirmaljeet Singh Narula, also known as Nirmal Baba.
“ATR be called from SHO of concerned police station,” the court said while posting the matter for hearing on September 10.


The complaint was filed by advocate Prem Shankar Sharma, who sought court’s direction for prosecution of Nirmal Baba allegedly for cheating, committing criminal breach of trust and hurting religious sentiments of people.

Advocate Sharma also sought lodging of FIR against Baba for his alleged offences under the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act, committed due to airing of objectionable advertisements on TV channels for treatment of diseases.


Sharma alleged Nirmal Baba was “spreading blind faith in the society” by airing shows like Third Eye of Nirmal Baba on television channels where he asks people to follow his preachings with a motive to make money.


The complainant said Baba is a fraud and spreads fear among people by claiming that he has supernatural powers. Also asking them to deposit
ten per cent of their income in his  account to receive his
blessings.”
