A 16-minute audio clip of 'intimate' conversation between the Congress MLA from Jamakhandi and former Union minister Siddu Nyamagouda, and a woman, said to be a Congress worker, has gone viral.
The conversation has become a talking point in the district ahead of the Assembly elections.
Nyamagouda, who shot to fame with his giant-killing act in the 1991 Lok Sabha elections, in which he defeated former chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde, told DH that the audio clip is fake and fabricated. "With the Assembly elections round the corner, this is a conspiracy by my detractors to mar my reputation."
"I have taken up many development works in my constituency. Those unable to digest my popularity are behind this audio clip," the legislator said.
"I will lodge a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, seeking a thorough investigation into the clip and action against those behind the act," Nyamagouda said.
