Nearly 87% of the candidates passed the class X CBSE compulsory board examinations, conducted after a gap of eight years, the results of which were announced on Tuesday.
Of the 16,24,682 students who took the examination, 14,08,594 were declared passed. The overall pass percentage stood at 86.7%.
Girls out-performed boys with a 3.35% higher pass percentage. The pass percentage of girls remained at 88.67% while the pass percentage of boys was pegged at 85.32%.
Four students bagged the top slot by securing the highest, 499 out of the total 500 marks. The board, however, did not rank the students.
Prakhar Mittal from DPS Grurugram; Rimzhim Agarwal, R P Public School, Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh); Nandini Garg, Scottish International School, Shamli and Sreelakshmi G, Bhavana's Vidyalaya, Kochi (Kerala) topped the examinations by securing 99.8% score.
Among the schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools recorded the best pass percentage, while government schools registered the lowest, PTI reported.
The CBSE held the compulsory board examinations for class X students from March 5 to April 4 across the country.
