The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools will have to pay a hefty fine from this year for failing to submit to the board a host of details about them ranging from the information about their management, infrastructure, teachers, students records to fee structures.
The board has decided to impose hefty penalty on such schools as a large number of them continue to remain ignorant to its demand for submission of data on various heads at its online affiliated schools information system (OASIS), rolled out in 2016 for various purpose which included policy planning and close monitoring of the functioning of the schools under it.
Schools which have “partially” filled up data in the OASIS are required to compete filling up data online by July 31 with a fine of Rs 50,000.
Schools which have not yet filled up data in the OASIS are also required to do so by July 31 with a fine of Rs 50,000.
After the expiry of the last date fixed for filling up data in OASIS, the schools will have to pay an additional fine of Rs 20,000 per month.
“After July 31, they will be able to fill up data only after paying an additional fine of Rs 20,000 per month. The amount of fine to be deposited by the defaulter schools will be automatically updated in the system (OASIS),” a board official told DH.
Schools which have got the CBSE affiliation after December 1, 2017 will get not have to pay any fine for submission of data. “However, if they fail to submit data by July 31, they too will be liable to pay a fine at the rate of Rs 20,000 per month,” the official said.
