Unauthorised people have put up tents, encroaching upon the land allocated to the victim of land submergence at Vodeyanapura village near Shanivarasanthe.

An operation of clearing encroachments on a land allocated to the victim of submergence, at Vodeyanapura village near Shanivarasanthe, was postponed due to a shortage of women police staff, on Tuesday.

The four acres of land bearing the survey number 124/1 was sanctioned to the victim Ramesh, as per High Court orders.

The land was provided with the RTC after a survey carried out in 2017.

Illegal dwelling

But, around 300 people have been illegally dwelling in the sanctioned land on illegal grounds, by putting up tents.

The people are from the neighbouring villages of Shanivarasante and are said to be backed by a local politician.

Victim seeks help

When the deputy commissioner was approached by the victim for help, she ordered the clearing of encroachments.

A team comprising Somvarpet circle inspector Nanjundegowda, tahsildar Shashidhar, Shanivarasanthe PSI N Anand and Revenue Department officials took up the operation on Tuesday.

Operation postponed

But, as there was a larger number of women among the encroachers and comparably fewer women police staff, the officials postponed the anti-encroachment operation and said that another date will be set for clearing of the encroachment in the near future.
