Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is understood to have directed all his ministerial colleagues to camp in Bengaluru and work actively in the BBMP elections scheduled on August 22.

Siddaramaiah, who chaired the State Cabinet meeting at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, is learnt to have asked his colleagues to take the polls seriously and ensure that the party emerges victorious. The ruling party has taken it as a prestige issue to win the polls. The Congress has already appointed ministers as observers to each of the Assembly constituencies in the City.

This apart, the Cabinet gave its approval to award Rs 17.7-crore contract to Rites Ltd to prepare a design for the construction of stations at Hebbagodi, Kottanuru, Nagawara and Kengeri under Metro phase II.
