“DVG’s ‘Mankuthimmana Kagga’ is one of the major literary works in Kannada. A deeper understanding of the work will help one to know the work better. DVG was not only a poet but also a thinker,” said senior litterateur A Narasimha Bhat.

He was speaking accepting DVG Prashasthi instituted by DVG Balaga Prathishtana in Mangaluru, on Sunday.

The programme aimed at spreading the message of the life of DVG. DVG was a humanist and was a jewel in Kannada. Through his Kagga, DVG is still relevant in the modern days.

Narasimha Bhat said, “DVG did not criticise anyone through his works. Instead, he has introspected. DVG wanted media to become eye and ear of the society and he proved by it. He did not misuse the pathrika dharma.”

The DVG prashasthi carries Rs 10,000 cash. After accepting the award, Narasimha Bhat handed over the amount to the foundation.

The amount should be used for the publication of DVG’s works.

Foundation convener Kanakaraj and president Dr Virupaksha were present. A talk on Kagga was held by expert G S Natesh.
