We have heard of business tycoons and celebrities indulging in weird kind of marriages to show off their money and grab attention, but a Youth Congress leader in Rajasthan surprised many when his baarat (procession) came on a helicopter in a non-descript village in Tonk district on Saturday.
Youth Congress state general secretary Dhiraj Gujjar and son of Jahajpur (Bhilwara) pradhan Sita Devi has done this unusual act. His marriage was fixed with Sunita, daughter of school master Ram Kishan Gujjar of Duni village in Tonk district on Saturday.
To everyone’s surprise, the groom along with few friends came on a helicopter.
When the helicopter carrying him landed at a ground in the village school, a large crowed gathered at the site. The groom was accompanied by former Assembly Speaker Devendra Singh as well.
Dhiraj said he is the son of a farmer and he wanted to get married in a normal way. But it was his friends who came up with the idea of hiring a helicopter for the baarat.
He said one of his friends in Haryana had recently launched an aviation company and he insisted on using his helicopter for the marriage and he had just obliged.
The villagers are not complaining either.
One of the villagers Bhim Singh Gujjar said, “Even during the election time, we have not seen a helicopter and it is for the first time a helicopter has landed in our village and it is a pride for us”.
