The Haryana government will allow conversion of industrial plots for non-industrial use. Plots that fall in under industrial areas that had been developed before the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Act, 1963, was enacted, are eligible for conversion.
The government will also transfer all industrial estates developed by the state industries department to the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
The Haryana cabinet took the decision on Monday, a government release said. The government, however, stated that non-industrial use of the converted plots does not mean that the land will be allowed to be used to set up residential colonies. Only institutional and warehousing activities can be done on the converted land, the government release said.
Sonipat Industrial Estate can be converted into a residential zone as part of a regularisation drive as the area is already half-residential. Industrial estates developed by the state industries department and the erstwhile colonisation department till 1963 include six acre in Sonipat, two acre in Karnal and 193 acre in Fatehabad, among others. Seventy-five per cent of the conversion charges will be deposited with municipal committees.
