Ten civilians, including a minor boy, were injured in a grenade attack in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday.

Police said a grenade was lobbed at a security forces’ vehicle in Goriwan Chowk, Bijbehara, 48 km from here. However, it missed the target and exploded on the roadside, leaving ten civilians wounded.

"Grenade attack took place at Goriwan chowk Bijbehara in which ten civilians got injured including one twelve years old boy, four of the injured have been referred to SGR hospital for further treatment," police said on Twitter.

The injured were shifted to a local hospital where from four injured were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment, a police official said. Immediately after the attack, the area was cordoned off by the security forces to nab the attacker.

The grenade attack came amid a unilateral ceasefire announced by the Center during the holy month of Ramzan. An official said while the security forces have completely stopped operations and are not taking any action on inputs on the movement of militants, there has been no response from ultras.

“No militant has been killed in south Kashmir in the first week of the ceasefire, while four ultras, who were infiltrating in northern Kupwara district last week got killed.
