The aggressive campaign for the ensuing Himachal Pradesh elections ended today. Votes will be cast on November 9.

Candidates will make use of remaining period before the polling date by canvassing door-to-door. The BJP's election campaign arguably trumped the incumbent Congress both in outreach and visibility.

It was a 12-day election campaign which is the shortest period for campaigning in the recent past. The joust for power in HP is a bipolar contest between the Congress and the BJP. The outgoing state assembly of 68 legislators has 36 MLA's of the Congress while the saffron party has 26 legislators. Rest were independents. Election results will be announced on December 18.
