Brathwaite is back. Oshane Thomas was supposed to bowl but for some reason Jason decided otherwise
44.1 Brathwaite to Afghan, DOT, yorker wide of off, just inside the tramline
44.2 Brathwaite to Afghan, OUT, superb catch just on the ropes! Another full and wide ball, Asghar had to go for it, got a good piece of willow on it actually, off the toe end though, it went high towards long off and the skipper has taken a great catch inside the ropes
Afghan c Holder bBrathwaite 40(32)
Dawlat Zadran is the new man in
44.3 Brathwaite to Dawlat, 1 run, full but closer to off stump, driven to sweeper
44.4 Brathwaite to Rashid, WIDE, yorker again, wide of the tramline though
44.4 Brathwaite to Rashid, WIDE, this is maybe a harsh call. Full and wide again, maybe was inside the tramline
44.4 Brathwaite to Rashid, WIDE, and another one. This is definitely wide
44.4 Brathwaite to Rashid, SIX, oh good shot! Just over the ropes and it clears Jason Holder so is a good shot. Full and wide again, half volley really, Rash cross bats it wide and over long off
44.5 Brathwaite to Rashid, 1 run, good yorker outside off, played with an open face to deep backward point
44.6 Brathwaite to Dawlat, OUT, second of the over! Full again, and Dawlat swings like a proper tail ender, hit it well too but at Carlos' pace it needed a lot more power. Sheldon takes a good diving catch at wide long on, he is pumped because he dropped one earlier
Dawlat c Cottrell bBrathwaite 1(2)
Rashid Khan is in at no.8. Meanwhile the crowd is having some fun on the boundary, they are throwing bats and other stuff to the likes of Cottrell and Brathwaite to sign for them. And they are signing it too. These Windies cricketers are real crowd entertainers and genuinely good people
42.1 Holder to Afghan, WIDE, angled alarmingly wide of the crease and tramline from round the wicket
42.1 Holder to Afghan, FOUR, great shot! Full and thrown wide of off, he used the angle and lofted it over extra cover
42.2 Holder to Afghan, FOUR, and another! This is a full toss on the pads, easily glanced away past short fine leg
42.3 Holder to Afghan, 1 run, full and wide again, driven to deep extra cover
42.4 Holder to Rashid, 1 run, length ball angled across, played with an angled bat to deep backward point
42.5 Holder to Afghan, DOT, dropped chance. Was hit very hard though. Asghar cross bats this full ball straight back, went very quickly to Jason who could not hold on
42.6 Holder to Afghan, 1 run.
41.5 Roach to Shinwari, OUT, another one down. Slower short ball, Sami pulls, it is never going to clear the ropes, in fact Shim had to run forward from deep mid wicket and take a diving catch. Well done
Shinwari c Hetmyer b Roach 6(9)
Into the final powerplay we go and Afghanistan need 92. Doable certainly and the Windies have the worst run-rate in the final 10 overs. Afghan has started quickly and he looks comfortable. Meanwhile the skipper is back.
40.1 Holder to Afghan, 1 run, quick single taken after underedging this to the keeper. Well run
40.2 Holder to Shinwari, DOT.
40.3 Holder to Shinwari, 2 runs, driven straight down and Carlos at long off does extremely well to save two
40.4 Holder to Shinwari, WIDE, down leg
40.4 Holder to Shinwari, 1 run, full and wide, driven to sweeper
40.5 Holder to Afghan, 1 run, wide yorker from round the wicket, an inside edge behind the stumps, another well taken single
40.6 Holder to Shinwari, DOT.
Gayle is off the field, guess he needs a bit of a breather after an action-packed last few overs
39.1 Roach to Afghan, DOT, gets an under edge on the cut
39.2 Roach to Afghan, 1 run, quick single to mid wicket
39.3 Roach to Shinwari, 1 run, pacy length ball, flicked to mid wicket
39.4 Roach to Afghan, 1 run, softly tucks this length ball to square leg
39.5 Roach to Shinwari, 1 run, tucked to deep backward square
39.6 Roach to Afghan, 1 run.
Samiullah Shinwari in at no.7. These two are the last recognized batsmen, though Rashid Khan can hit a long ball. That last over from Roach was a wicket maiden, what a start to the second spell for him. Cottrell is back again.
38.1 Cottrell to Shinwari, 1 run, short and pulled to deep square leg
38.2 Cottrell to Afghan, SIX, this is a super shot! Knows it will be slow, went deep in his crease, got it full, he waited and powered it into the stands at deep square leg
38.3 Cottrell to Afghan, FOUR, now he cuts it away. This was pacy, he used the pace to get it past backward point
38.4 Cottrell to Afghan, DOT, slower ball wide of off, now he misses the cut
38.5 Cottrell to Afghan, 2 runs, flicked to deep mid wicket for a couple and this time he called early
38.6 Cottrell to Afghan, 1 run.
Mohammad Nabi joins Afghan at the crease. This chase is still not out of their reach, their two most experienced batsmen are at the crease. Roach is back.
37.1 Roach to Nabi, DOT, punched to cover and could have been close. Lot of hesitation in the running between the wickets here
37.2 Roach to Nabi, DOT, straightens off the pitch to beat the tentative push
37.3 Roach to Nabi, DOT, full and wide, he chops the cut to backward point
37.4 Roach to Nabi, OUT, oh boy they are collapsing here. Full and wide, Nabi lofts this, it was slow, he got it off the toe end of the bat straight down the throat of sweeper
Nabi c Allen b Roach 2(6)
35.2 Gayle to Ikram, OUT, big man strikes! And it is the big wicket of Ikram Ali Khil. Unlucky to miss out on the century though, but what an innings. He cut and pulled with aplomb, employed the late dabs and steers to perfection. A stroke-filled innings that never ceased to wow you. Gayle bowled this full, drifted in with the arm a bit, Khil was looking for the sweep a lot, misses this one and HawkEye showed three reds
Ikram lbw b Gayle 86(93)
Asghar Afghan is the new batsman
35.4 Gayle to Afghan, OUT, 1 run, oh complete disaster! Afghanistan are losing the plot here. Asghar worked this full ball to square leg, Gayle chases it off his own bowling, puts a bit of pressure on the batsmen who were looking for two, deep mid wicket runs in, and fires a perfect throw at the bowler's end to catch Najib short. It was an unnecessary second run, and Gayle should get some credit for this. Najib is absolutely furious with his former captain, and I mean really furious. Bangs his bat into the ground twice in frustration
Najib run-out (Hetmyer/Brathwaite) 31(38)
We are back after drinks. Cottrell is back.
34.1 Cottrell to Ikram, 1 run, starts off a bit full, pulled to deep mid wicket

34.6 Cottrell to Najib, 2 runs.
32.1 Brathwaite to Najib, SIX, big hit finally! And it is a good shot too. Full on off, Najib extends his arms and gets it straight and high down the ground for a maximum
32.2 Brathwaite to Najib, 1 run.
32.3 Brathwaite to Ikram, 2 runs, comical scenes in the deep! Short ball is pulled straight to him at square leg, he gathers cleanly and as he looks to throw the ball pops out of his hands. Gifts an extra run
32.4 Brathwaite to Ikram, 2 runs, pulls to deep mid wicket now
32.5 Brathwaite to Ikram, 1 run, slow and full, flicked to deep mid wicket
32.6 Brathwaite to Najib, 1 run.
Najibullah Zadran is the new man in
29.1 Gayle to Ikram, DOT, strange things happening. Got down low to sweep, it missed the stump, but Hope has broken it in his eagerness to stump him out. They have sent it upstairs too. Oh Hope has missed a big chance here! Khil was outside his crease, he has not gathered it but broken the stumps anyway. Or maybe just about holds the ball in the tip of the gloves when he broke it. And it is not out. Huge chance missed
29.2 Gayle to Ikram, 1 run, pulled to deep mid wicket now
29.3 Gayle to Najib, DOT, drifted in on off, defended on the back foot

29.6 Gayle to Najib, DOT.
26.1 Brathwaite to Rahmat, DOT, full and angling in, pushed to short cover
26.2 Brathwaite to Rahmat, OUT, gone finally! And it is Gayle who takes the catch. Shah looks to turn it away, the ball as usual sticks to the pitch, catches the leading edge and lobbed to Gayle at short cover, he dived forward with his knees to take a good, low catch
Rahmat c Gayle bBrathwaite 62(78)
Chris Gayle into the attack and he immediately draws a huge cheer

25.4 Gayle to Rahmat, 1 run, to square leg
25.5 Gayle to Ikram, 1 run, full and wide, driven to deep cover
25.6 Gayle to Rahmat, 1 run.
24.1 Brathwaite to Rahmat, 1 run, holy moses, that is dropped at long on! Would you believe it? And it is Sheldon Cottrell of all people. The man who has been the best fielder at the WC. A length ball that stuck to the pitch, Shah came down and mistimes the loft, was a dolly for him but it pops out twice out of his hands. Big moment because the Windies could have finally broken through
24.2 Brathwaite to Ikram, DOT.
24.3 Brathwaite to Ikram, DOT.

16.6 Allen to Rahmat, 1 run.
And that will be drinks
14.1 Thomas to Rahmat, DOT, length ball outside off, he goes back to defend

Naib c Lewis b Roach 5(6)
Skipper Gulbadin Naib, who has not had a good day today, and Rahmat Shah will open for Afghanistan. The former will be looking to make some amends for his errors and should look to attack. There is no point in taking the game too deep with the pitch slowing down. 312 is a stiff target but not out of reach totally. The Afghans will have to pull off a miracle but they are certainly capable of that. Cottrell it will be with the new ball.

Pooran run-out (Ikram/Shirzad) 58(43)
Carlos Brathwaite is at no.7

49.6 Shirzad to Brathwaite, FOUR, oh my word this is even more embarrassing than the Pooran run out. It bounces inside to add four to the total

48.5 Dawlat to Pooran, FOUR WIDES, more disaster. This was the slower short ball, left alone because he knows it will be wided, bounces before the keeper and spins away from his gloves
48.5 Dawlat to Pooran, DOT, goes for the paddle after shuffling across, does not come off
48.6 Dawlat to Pooran, 2 runs.

41.5 Rashid to Pooran, 1 run, full and nudged to square leg
41.6 Rashid to Holder, DOT.
We are into the final powerplay and Windies should look to get some 70-80 runs more from here.
40.1 Shirzad to Pooran, 1 run, good effort by mid off! Slow ball dropped full, Nico goes for a full blooded drive, and mid off dived to his right but it did not stick to his hands. Stops the boundary for sure
40.2 Shirzad to Holder, 1 run, slow length ball on leg, pushed past the bowler
40.3 Shirzad to Pooran, FOUR, short and down leg, it is an easy swivel and half pull to deep backward square. Very bad ball in the slog overs

39.6 Nabi to Holder, DOT.
Nabi is back now.
37.1 Nabi to Hope, FOUR, poor effort by mid off. Shai went back and cross batted this wide ball wide of mid off, was not too far from him, should have stopped it with a dive. Lets it go through him
37.2 Nabi to Hope, FOUR, this time he had no chance. Nabi drops it fuller, he backed away and powered it down the ground well wide of mid off
37.3 Nabi to Hope, DOT, round the wicket now, and drifts on middle, defended to the leg side
37.4 Nabi to Hope, OUT, oh no he has thrown away a hundred for sure! He has made one mistake all day, and it has cost him his wicket. This was flatter and full, on off stump, Shai went for the big slog sweep, connects well but not well enough. Holes out to deep mid wicket
Hope c Rashid b Nabi 77(92)
36.1 Dawlat to Pooran, DOT, oh play and a miss. Length ball angled across, he looks for the wristy drive, is beaten by the slow ball
36.2 Dawlat to Pooran, DOT, length on middle, tucked to short mid wicket
36.3 Dawlat to Pooran, 1 run, length on off now, defends firmly, gets it to sweeper cover
36.4 Dawlat to Hope, 2 runs, very good shot. Fuller on off, Shai flicks this softy to wide long on for a couple
36.5 Dawlat to Hope, DOT, big appeal and it is turned down again. Feels like the right decision. This is a fuller ball angled in, wanted to hit down the ground but it was drifting down leg easily

34.5 Dawlat to Hetmyer, OUT, and Dawlat has his second! This is short, should have been put away all day long, Shim does go for the pull and hits it powerfully but not wide enough of short mid wicket. The man anticipated it, moved to his right and took a good catch. Much needed because he was looking in good touch
Hetmyer c sub (Noor Ali) b Dawlat 39(31)
Rashid is back.

33.2Rashid to Hetmyer, DOT, quicker and shorter outside off, cut to point

33.4 Rashid to Hope, DOT, run-out chance and Rashid is unhappy. Shai tucked towards mid wicket, his partner set off, keeper ran forward and threw, and Rashid tells he had to hit it direct and not throw to him
33.5 Rashid to Hope, 1 run, looks to sweep and gets a top edge which goes towards short fine leg
33.6 Rashid to Hetmyer, 2 runs, poor miscommunication on a difficult catch. Would have been taken if only one of them was going for it. Shim went for the slog sweep, got a fat top edge which went very high up, square leg and deep mid wicket went for it. The former was running back, and the man running in would have had a better chance, in the end it fell safely. Rashid kicks the ground in disgust

Lewis c Nabi b Rashid 58(78)
23.1 Mujeeb to Lewis, 1 run, full and pushed to long off

23.5 Mujeeb to Lewis, DOT, firmly defends it back
23.6 Mujeeb to Lewis, OUT, Gulbadin goes for the DRS! Evin got down low to sweep this full ball, misses and is struck on the pads. The impact seemed outside the line to the naked eye and umpire thought so too, I guess. No inside edge, and impact is umpire's call. So he survives
Change of ends for Rashid Khan.

8.5 Shirzad to Hope,DOT, makes a late decision to pull, but the ball is well past when he does
8.6 Shirzad to Hope, DOT.
7.1 Dawlat to Hope, DOT, dropped at short mid wicket. It is Rashid Khan stationed there exactly for this shot, and it is a dolly. Flicked straight to him, on top of that he argues with the bowler, gestures as if to say, "What was that?" as if he was surprised to be there. Don't know what that was about
7.2 Dawlat to Hope, DOT.

5.2 Dawlat to Gayle, DOT, ah good delivery! Length dropped on off stump line, moves away past the bat after pitching
5.3 Dawlat to Gayle, OUT, and the Universe Boss show is over! But this is a super delivery. Not individually but after the last one this was good execution. Gayle had smashed him when he was short and wide, knows he will look for the big one after being frustrated for so long. Clears his left leg to go downtown, but this is full and wide, Gayle chases after it nonetheless and gets an outside edge to the keeper. Lot of cheers for him on his last WC match but he has had a terrible one to be honest
Gayle c Ikram b Dawlat 7(18)

3.3 Dawlat to Gayle, DOT, fuller outside off, Gayle leaves it alone
3.4 Dawlat to Gayle, FOUR, and he tees off! Not very powerful or well-timed but it does the job. Length ball wide of off, the Universe Boss cross bats it down the ground
3.5 Dawlat to Gayle, DOT, full on off stump, he wants to tee off now, does not time this at all
3.6 Dawlat to Gayle, DOT.

Gayle and Lewis are at the crease for Windies, and you get the feeling the former is going to go bonkers. It is his last WC game, he can potentially surpass Lara as West Indies' leading run-scorer at World Cups, so there is a lot to play for. Let's see if he hits out or gets out. Mujeeb ur Rahman to open the bowling.
0.1 Mujeeb to Gayle, DOT, full outside off, driven to extra cover
0.2 Mujeeb to Gayle, DOT, drifted on the stumps, defended
0.3 Mujeeb to Gayle, DOT, poor one down leg, but Gayle cannot paddle it away
0.4 Mujeeb to Gayle, DOT, well wide of off, left alone
0.5 Mujeeb to Gayle, DOT, outside off, Gayle plays inside the line of it
0.6 Mujeeb to Gayle, 1 run, him and Windies are off the mark!
West Indies' anthem is played first, followed by that of Afghanistan
Afghanistan XI: Rahmat Shah, Gulbadin Naib(c), Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shinwari, Najibullah Zadran, Ikram Ali Khil(wk), Rashid Khan, Dawlat Zadran, Sayed Shirzad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
West Indies XI: Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope(wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Holder(c), Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, Kemar Roach
Jason Holder calls right and he wants to bat first. "Looks like a good wicket to put a score on", he says. Lewis and Roach are back for Ambris and Gabriel.
Naib wanted to bat first as well. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Hamid Hassan are out, Dawlat and Shirzad are in
There has no been no denying that Afghanistan have been impressive at the World Cup, running India and Pakistan close, while also putting up spirited fights against Sri Lanka and Australia. A sole win will do a world of good for their confidence, and can catapult their status as a genuine team in the years to come.
West Indies have won just one game- the first against Pakistan, while have lost others pretty badly. They did come close against Australia and New Zealand but have largely failed to do justice to their tag of dark houses, though they as favourites for today's game.
