18.5 Fortuin to Kohli, 1 run, length now, and he tucks it to mid wicket for one

18.6 Fortuin to Shreyas, FOUR, done and dusted! Iyer comes down, takes it on the half volley and hits it hard along the ground to give long on no chance of cutting it off

Ind 138/3 (18 overs)

KG is back, is it too late though?

17.1 Rabada to Kohli, SIX, that is a ridiculous shot! And I mean that in a good way. KG typically bowls it with pace but gets the line wrong, on leg stump it is, Virat simply uses the pace to flick it away and it goes over the fine leg fence

13.3 Fortuin to Pant, 2 runs, goes on the back foot to this length ball, tucks it softly to mid wicket and takes two

13.4 Fortuin to Pant, OUT, and the rap on the knuckles that Shastri talked about should come after this game. Poor ball, and a poorer shot to get out. Short ball down leg, horror ball, Rishabh could have hit it anywhere but instead plays it straight to the man at short fine leg

Pant c Shamsi b Fortuin 4(5)

Ind 94/2 (11.4 overs)

11.1 Shamsi to Kohli, 3 runs, length ball turning in, Virat wristily places it in the gap at deep square leg, Temba saves one after haring across

11.4 Shamsi to Dhawan, OUT, what a grab that is! That looked destined for a biggie but David Miller was having none of it! Shikhar comes down the track, and nails the big shot down the ground, it is flat, hit extremely hard, was travelling at the rate of knots but Miller from long on runs to his right and leaps even better, stretches his right hand out and plucks it out of thin air. Is this the start of a Protea comeback?

Dhawan c Miller b Shamsi 40(31)

Ind 89/1 (11 overs)

New spinner in the block for the Proteas, and it is Bjorn Fortuin into the attack.

8.2 Pretorius to Kohli, 1 run.

8.3 Pretorius to Dhawan, FOUR, now it is Shikhar's turn. Gets it full just outside off, and he lifts it straight back, one bounce over the ropes

5.2 Phehlukwayo to Kohli, DOT, wants to place it down to third man but does not get it fine enough

5.3 Phehlukwayo to Kohli, DOT, huge, huge shout, and Andile is pleading with the umpire. Cuts Virat in half, de Kock was confident of the inside edge, he was celebrating in fact and has gone for the DRS now. And the replay shows it to be clipping the pad on the way through. The wickets are umpire's call too so Virat survives either way

5.4 Phehlukwayo to Kohli, 1 run, length ball on leg, tucked to short fine leg, who fumbles and allows the single

5.5 Phehlukwayo to Dhawan, WIDE, angled down leg from round the wicket

5.5 Phehlukwayo to Dhawan, DOT, cracks the punch off the length ball, straight to cover point though

3.2 Phehlukwayo to Dhawan, DOT, advances down the track to intimidate the bowler, can only play it to backward point though

3.3 Phehlukwayo to Dhawan, 2 runs, smart work in the deep, pulled to deep square leg, the fielder pulls it back, not cleanly though, takes his hands off it as it rolls around and then throws it back.Actually the replays are quite close, third umpire is having multiple looks at it. And it is deemed to not be a boundary. Tight call though

3.4 Phehlukwayo to Dhawan, 1 run, slower ball, played softly to mid off for one

3.5Phehlukwayo to Rohit, OUT, gone! Full and again there is no pace, Rohit wants to hit it powerfully, but the ball eludes him and that is right in front of leg stump. First blood drawn!

2.5 Rabada to Rohit, DOT, straight delivery outside off, defended towards mid on

1.1 Nortje to Dhawan, 1 run, short and a bit wide, played to third man

1.2 Nortje to Rohit, DOT.

1.3 Nortje to Rohit, SIX, typical Rohit! Landed short, and he is one of the most beautiful pullers of the ball, gets into position and the next thing we know, it is into the mid wicket stands

1.4 Nortje to Rohit, DOT.

1.5 Nortje to Rohit, SIX, no pace will help you if you bowl short to Rohit. Anrich does not learn his lesson, drops it short again, and is deposited into the fine leg stands this time

1.6 Nortje to Rohit, DOT.

Ind 8/0 (1 over)

Rohit and Shikhar will open for India as usual. KG Rabada with the new ball and he breathes fire. We are set for a good contest!

0.1 Rabada to Rohit, WIDE, not the ball you want to start with. Down leg and it is rightly adjudged wide

0.1 Rabada to Rohit, DOT, hits Rohit on the pad as he is beaten by pace, but it is too high for an LBW

19.6 Saini to Pretorius, SIX, great way to finish off! Slower ball sits up nicely, Dwaine was ready for it and pulls it into the stands at mid wicket! 149 it is!

SA 133/5 (19 overs)

Dwaine Pretorius is the man at no.6 and he can strike them long too. Hardik back yet again.

18.1 H Pandya to Miller, OUT, knocked him over! Hardik keeps it straight on a length, grips a bit, David looks to heave it away, but instead his middle stump is pegged back.

Bavuma c Jadeja b D Chahar 49(43)

SA 126/3 (17 overs)

16.2 Saini to Bavuma, DOT, outside off and driven to cover point

16.3 Saini to Bavuma, DOT, full on the stumps, not quite the yorker, but Temba can only hit it straight back to Navdeep

SA 105/3 (14 overs)

Yet another change in bowling as Krunal Pandya is brought into the attack. David Miller has walked out at no.5 and he has not had a good run recently with the bat. Still very dangerous though.

13.6 K Pandya to Bavuma, 1 run.

13.5 K Pandya to Bavuma, 1 run.

SA 90/3 (12.1 overs)

Rassie van der Dussen is in at no.4

12.1 Jadeja to van der Dussen, OUT, and Rassie is gone second ball! Jaddu bowls it on a typically full length, it turns away just a bit,but it is enough to catch him out, as Rassie spoons a leading edge straight back, Jaddu leaps to his right and takes it over his head. India coming back nicely!

van der Dussen c & b Jadeja 1(2)

SA 88/2 (11.2 overs)

Saini is back after that expensive 13-run first over.

11.1 Saini to Bavuma, 1 run.

11.2 Saini to de Kock, OUT, what a catch! And it is one skipper dismissing the other! Navdeep drops it short, the SA skipper goes for the pull down the ground, it is not a bad shot but he had not accounted for Kohli. The Indian skipper, who has stationed himself at mid on, anticipates well, runs to his left, and dives for glory, and catches it one-handed as he is falling. Needed something special to get de Kock out and Kohli has produced exactly that!

de Kock c Kohli b Saini 52(37)

SA 87/1 (11 overs)

10.4 Jadeja to de Kock, FOUR, falls short of the fielder! Short ball, darted in, Quinton pulls it away, and deep square leg was in two minds- to catch it or save the boundary, in the end does neither. Fifty for the skipper on debut!

10.5 Jadeja to de Kock, 1 run.

10.6 Jadeja to Bavuma, 1 run.

SA 78/1 (10 overs)

9.1 Pandya to de Kock, 1 run, full toss just about qualifies as legal, played to long on

9.2 Pandya to Bavuma, 3 runs, slight drama! Played to Shreyas at deep point, he fumbles a bit, they go for the second, there is no one backing up the throw and it allows a third too

9.3 Pandya to de Kock, 1 run.

9.4 Pandya to Bavuma, FOUR, slow, short and wide of off, easy pickings for Temba, cuts it away past a vacant point

9.5 Pandya to Bavuma, FOUR, copy paste the previous delivery. This time it is straighter, in front of the wicket, still picks up the boundary though

7.5 Pandya to Bavuma, SIX, first big shot of the night! What a shot too! Back of a length on off, Temba shuffles just a bit, sat up nicely for him, and he handsomely pulls it over the square leg boundary

7.6 Pandya to Bavuma, DOT.

SA 45/1 (7 overs)

Powerplay done, and Kohli decides to get Jaddu into the attack.

6.1 Jadeja to de Kock, 1 run, starts with length and is punched to deep cover point

SA 32/1 (5 overs)

4.1 Sundar to de Kock, DOT.

4.2 Sundar to de Kock, DOT.

4.6 Sundar to Bavuma, DOT.

SA 31/1 (3.5 overs)

3.2 D Chahar to de Kock, 1 run, overcompensates with this full one, on leg stump, and it is flicked to deep square leg

3.3 D Chahar to Hendricks, 1 run, Reeza is not as comfortable as Quinton, he just tucks this length ball to mid-wicket and sets off, good stuff to get his more fluent skipper on strike

3.4 D Chahar to de Kock, 1 run, full and wide, cracked to cover, if only Hardik had gathered it cleanly, it could have been a close call

3.5 D Chahar to Hendricks, OUT, got him! Reeza was not looking himself, and he holes out trying to hit his way out of trouble. Length ball that skids on, he tries to pick it up over mid on, does not make the required connection and the man takes it easily. First wicket down!

R Hendricks c Sundar b D Chahar 6(11)
