How brilliant would it be if you could peep out of your bathroom window only to see a serene beach! Well, it’s no more a fantasy.

Polish architect Adam Wiercinski has made public a ‘seaside periscope’ concept comprising a public toilet that sports a working periscope system. This public toilet is set to be located on the coast in Gdynia, northern Poland. Once this seaside periscope, that resembles a disused bunker from the Soviet era,  shall be built from concrete.

The periscope system itself serves a purpose beyond mere novelty, and is placed 13 feet off the ground to offer those visiting the bathroom a good view of the Baltic Sea.

The system offers a few advantages over one-way glass. For example, no passers-by will interrupt the view here. The periscope features two mirrors and reflects light from outside and down into the bathroom into a ‘viewfinder’, which in this case is very large and takes up the place one might usually expect to find a mirror.
