A Janata Dal (S) candidate for the BBMP elections from Kacharakanahalli ward attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills, hours after his nomination papers were rejected by the polling officers for want of a few valid documents.

Rakesh Jain, a resident of Kullappa Circle near Kammanahalli, was rushed to nearby hospital, where doctors declared him out of danger, said the police.

The JD (S) had given the Jain the ‘B’ form to contest from the Kacharakanahalli ward in Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituency. However, Jain had failed to furnish a few documents and hence his nomination papers were rejected. An upset Jain consumed sleeping tablets at his house at 2.30 pm, the police added.
