J&K minister resigns over exam scandal

Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed on friday, resigned from the council of ministers in the wake of an examination scandal involving his foster-son.

“I have resigned from the council of ministers. I have forwarded my resignation to the party high command", said Peerzada. Jammu and Kashmir crime branch has found alleged irregularities in the answer sheets of his foster-son in class X examination which he had passed. 

They submitted a report to the government on February 7. The crime branch found two handwritings in the answer sheets of  Sayeed's foster-son Imam Sauban's Class X  exam. 

Omar Abdullah shared the finding of the report with Congress high command on Friday.  The crime branch, which had probed the answer-paper scandal, in its report submitted to the government also identified three officials involved in the scam. Sources claim the officials identified belong to the examination division of the J and K board.
