A law student was allegedly raped after being served drinks laced with sedatives and the incident filmed at Rani Bagh area in north-west Delhi. Two accused, including a son of an assistant sub inspector, have been arrested in this case.

The 26-year-old victim was called by the accused Mohammad Athar Khan, 25, to a hotel in Pitampura to celebrate his birthday on January 31. Khan had also booked a room at the hotel. Khan is the son of an ASI in Delhi Police and he had come in contact with the victim through a social networking website a few months ago.

The victim has alleged that she was offered drinks mixed with sedatives and raped in the hotel room by Athar in front of his cousin Mohammad Anam Khan. She also accused his cousin of misbehaving with her. On regaining her senses, she escaped from the hotel room, but did not approach police immediately.

She has accused Khan of threatening her that he would release the video of the incident if she reported the matter to anyone.

However, she informed police about the incident on February 2 following which police registered an FIR. Senior police officers sealed the hotel room.

They also questioned the hotel staff about the CCTV cameras there which were not working. The hotel has clarified that due to leakage of water from a fire safety pipeline into the CCTV system some days ago, the cameras were not working.

The victim’s medical tests have confirmed rape. Police raided different locations and arrested Athar and Anam soon after confirmation of rape. An open jeep, by which the two arrived at the hotel, has also been seized.

Both the accused are students at a private varsity in Uttar Pradesh. While Athar lives in Pitampura, Anam hails from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh.
