A man was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport for trying to travel on a forged visa to Kuwait, police said on Sunday.
Sirajuddin, who hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, was scheduled to board an Emirates Airways flight to Kuwait via Dubai on Saturday morning.
“He was stopped after immigration officer at Terminal 3 departure suspected that the visa on his passport’s page number 22 may be fake. Page numbers 23 and 24 of his passport were also missing,” a senior police official said.
On questioning, Sirajuddin confessed to have arranged the visa by a Kuwaiti man named Kamal Mustafa Sultan.
“Sirajuddin had been working for Kamal’s company for the past 25 months and presently was in India for holidays,” the official added.
He was handed over to IGI Airport police station on Saturday morning for cheating the Indian immigration.
A case of cheating, forgery, using forged document and criminal conspiracy was registered against Sirajuddin at IGI Airport police station.
