Jagriti Singh seems to have been inspired by her husband and Bahujan Samaj Party MP Dhananjay Singh’s criminal history, as sources claim that several complaints were made against her by domestic helps, but no action was taken due to the high profile.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) S B S Tyagi confirmed that 20 CCTV cameras were also installed at the South Avenue flat to keep a close watch on the employees.
Dhananjay has at least 29 cases registered against him in UP, which include murder and attempt to murder.

On Tuesday, a domestic help named Meena told Deccan Herald that several employees have fled from the flat since it was allotted to Dhananjay in 2009.

‘Violent woman’

“Jagriti is a violent woman and used to torture employees through random beatings with articles ranging from sticks to wooden antlers of a deer-head trophy,” she said.

Most of the domestic helps found it hard to survive with the torture, and went ahead to complain with South Avenue police post.

“However, no action was ever initiated against Jagriti,” Meena added.

It is claimed that CCTV cameras also did not deter Jagriti from meting out harsh punishment to the domestic helps.

Sources said they were placed to keep an eye on the employees, and even covered the washrooms.

Police claim that Dhananjay wiped out CCTV evidence to mislead investigation after Rakhi Bhadra’s death was reported.

Explaining the sequence of events, another police officer said that Rakhi was beaten up by Jagriti almost every day last week, and the final blow came when she was cleaning the flat on the occasion of Diwali on Sunday.

Jagriti, who was supervising Rakhi, felt that the 35-year-old was not putting enough efforts to clean the living room. Jagriti then allegedly pinned Rakhi to the ground and beat her up with a stick.

“She also tried to strangle her, during which Rakhi’s head was hit on the stairs. Rakhi lost consciousness after the attack,” sources added.

Over the next few hours, the 26-year-old dentist with Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital tried to revive Rakhi, but she succumbed to injuries.

Jagriti then informed Dhananjay over the phone, and the MP told her not to touch the body till he got home from Jaunpur. He returned on Monday afternoon and approached South Avenue police post.

Police also claimed that the relationship between Dhananjay and Jagriti had recently turned sour following a spat, and the matter was taken to Patiala House family court, where the procedure of separation is sub judice.

At present, Dhananjay was living separately in another flat in the locality.

It has also been revealed that Jagriti was Dhananjay’s second wife, as he had married a woman named Meenu in 2006.

However, after a year of marriage, Meenu died under mysterious circumstances in her house in Gomti Nagar in Lucknow.

Unconfirmed reports claimed that Meenu committed suicide after she got to know about the love affair of her husband with Jagriti.
