Lack of a toilet at her school forced a Class 3 student to ask the principal to strike off her name from the rolls as she did not want to study there.

Khushi, a student of the government primary girls school at Jagadishpura locality in Agra wrote a letter to the principal stating the difficulties she and other girls face owing to the lack of a toilet.

According to reports, the girl said in her letter that she was forced to answer the call of nature in the open.

"The place is very dirty and foul smell emanates from there making it very difficult for us to study here," Khushi said in the letter.

The letter has caused great embarrassment to the local basic education officials as they had never expected a little girl to raise the issue and that too in black and white.

"It is indeed a very serious issue... the building of the school is very old and any new construction is not possible there... the school will have to be shifted to some other building," said a district basic education official in Agra.

Reports said that a few girls had left the primary school at Rambagh locality earlier over a similar issue.

Local MP Ram Shankar Katehria had visited the school building a few months back and directed the basic education officials to take steps to improve the condition there but things have remained the same.
