The presently operational Airport Express Link provides Metro connectivity to the new T3 terminal of the airport from where all international carriers and premium domestic airlines fly.

However, there is no Metro connectivity for the domestic terminals from where low-cost airlines operate.

“The proposed Indira Gandhi Domestic Airport Metro station will be an underground station which will come up on the Janakpuri West-Kalindi Kunj-Botanical Garden corridor,” said a Metro spokesperson.

The section from Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden has got in-principle approval from the UP government. The Metro lines under phase III are expected to be operational by 2016.

The proposed station will help flyers taking domestic flights from across the city. For the South Delhi residents, commuters will have direct connectivity to the domestic airport from Kalkaji, Nehru Place, Hauz Khas and Munirka.

The travel time from Nehru Place to the airport would approximately be 20 minutes.
For East Delhi residents living in Anand Vihar, Lakshmi Nagar area and Vaishali in Ghaziabad, passengers could take Line 3 and 4 and change at Janakpuri West Metro station. Approximately, it would take 50 minutes from Lakshmi Nagar to reach the airport.

Passengers coming from places like Punjabi Bagh and Netaji Subhash Place in West Delhi could take the new Mukundpur-Yamuna Vihar corridor before changing at Rajouri Garden and then take Line 3 and reach Janakpuri West to avail of the services on this corridor.

From North and Central Delhi, passengers coming from Vishwavidyalaya and Central Delhi areas can take Line 2, reach Hauz Khas and board the train to the IGD Airport. It would take approximately 40 minutes to reach the domestic airport from Vishwavidyalaya.

The domestic airport would have direct connectivity from Botanical Garden in Noida for the airport.

The Proposed interchanges on the Janakpuri West-Kalindi Kunj-Botanical Garden corridor includes Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden on Line 3, Hauz Khas on Line 2 and Kalkaj on Line 6.
