Amid nation-wide protests on the film Padmavati, a PIL has been filed by advocate M L Sharma in the Supreme Court, which put it for consideration next week.
The plea seeks prosecution of the film director and producer for defamation - "character assassination" of Queen Padmavati - and under various provisions of the Information Technology Act.
He sought an immediate direction to remove objectionable parts from the film, besides laying down guidelines on the depiction of legendary-historical personalities.
Sharma mentioned his petition before a bench presided over by Chief Justice Dipak Misra on Friday.
The petitioner contended the proposed release of the film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali on December 1 must be stopped as it was likely to cause serious damage not only to the image of the queen but also to other women in the country.
