A Mumbai-Delhi Air India flight landed under emergency condition at Indira Gandhi International Airport following a bomb threat on Monday.
Soon after AI-888 took off from Mumbai at 7 pm, the Air India call centre there received an anonymous call.
The caller said the aircraft was carrying baggage that had a bomb in it.
The pilot of the Airbus A-319, carrying 117 passengers and six crew members, was asked by the Mumbai air traffic contol to land at the nearest airport.
However, since it was nearing Delhi, the plane landed at IGI airport at 8.57 pm and was immediately taken to the isolation bay.
The passengers were deboarded by 9.15 pm as police and security personnel searched the plane and the baggage for the explosive.
Police said they are trying to trace the caller. From time to time, several airlines get hoax calls from unknown persons, claiming bomb threats.
