Congress candidate from Bantwal assembly constituency and district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai visited the house of former union minister and veteran leader B Janardhan Poojary and sought his blessings on Wednesday. Rai will file his nomination on April 19.

This visit is important as there was no cordial relationship between the duo in the recent years. In fact, Janardhan Poojary had broken down after accusing Ramanath Rai of abusing him during a stage programme at Sri Brahma Baidarkala Garadi Kshethra in Mangaluru on December 28.

Due to his poor health, Poojary has been resting at home for the last few months.

Rai, who visited Poojary, sought his support in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Poojary, in turn, said that the people in Bantwal are intelligent and will not heed any false propaganda and rumours. "People will vote for development and God will not leave your (Rai) hand.”
