Promising students from renowned institutions were awarded scholarships to pursue higher studies in universities in Japan.
In its fifth year, the Panasonic scholarship programme provides financial aid to talented students from Asian countries who wish to pursue a master’s degree in engineering in Japan.
The selected Indian students will be entitled to a scholarship package starting April 2013.
The sponsor will provide a financial support of 150,000 yen or about Rs 1 lakh per month as the tuition fee for the first year; and for the subsequent two years, it will increase to 1,80,000 yen per month besides the tuition fees.
Dr Kiran Walia, union minister of education, women and child department awarded
the scholarship to Abhiram Railkar from IIT Madras, Abhishek Panigrahi from IIT Guwahati, Saurabh Bhide from PVG College of Engineering and Technology and Ankita Jain from Jaipur National University.
Congratulating them Walia said, “I applaud the scholarship winners and wish them the best for their educational pursuits in Japan.”
