Personal Assistant to MLC Veena Achaiah, Rajesh, who has been arrested in connection with the murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, is speculated to have been maintaining connections with Sanatan Sanstha, a Hindu organisation.
According to villagers, Rajesh was associated with the organisation from the past few years. He was offered a government job on compassionate grounds following the death of his father who was a teacher. However after the department raised objections about his involvement with Sanatan Sanstha (said to be a controversial organisation), he discontinued attending its programmes. But he worked for the organisation indirectly, according to some people.
In a due course of time, he was appointed as a personal assistant to MLC Veena Acchaiah. After the office work, he was working at his farm in the evening. He was a socialising person, the people, who know him in person, have said.
It is said that Rajesh’s family will hire a lawyer to argue for him in the court. Rajesh is married and has two children.
After the arrest of Mohan Nayak from Sullia in connection with the Gauri Lankesh murder case, the Special Inestigation Team officials have been keeping an eye on the Old Fort premises, where Rajesh’s office is situated.
