Three women were knocked down and another critically injured by a train near Malad and Goregaon stations in the western suburbs of Mumbai on Saturday, reports DHNS.

The victims were women labourers who work along with gangmen on a contract basis. The incident occurred around noon on the Western Railway (WR) route.

After completion of their work, a few workers were going towards the Malad station when a train from Malad to Indore knocked down the four women.

Three of them died on the spot, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (WR) Purushottam Kara

"The workplace is far away from the accident site. They were trespassing the tracks when the incident took place," said WR spokesperson Ravinder Bhakar.
