Two persons have been arrested at Palam Airport with banned drugs worth Rs 1.2 crore in international market, police said.
Lianthuama Chhakchhuak, 48, and Sawithanga, 53, were arrested on Monday with 115 kg pseudoephedrine tablets, said Central Industrial Security Force spokesperson Hemendra Singh.
Singh said the accused had taken huge quantity of medicines in their baggage on their way to Guwahati by a SpiceJet flight.
Suspicious, the officials checked their baggage and found the medicines to be banned pseudoephedrine tablets.
They told CISF personnel that they have a furniture business in Aizawl and came to Delhi a week ago and stayed in Janakpuri.
Police later learnt that they were drug carriers and would have got Rs 1 lakh after the delivery of this consignment.
Chhakchhuak said he worked as a welder at a Mizoram workshop and came to Delhi to take away the consignment with his relative Sawithanga who is a carpenter.
His income was not enough and to meet his expenses, he accepted Robert Mafsawma’s offer in Mizoram.
Robert gave him money and told him that a man will contact him and give the tablets.
After taking the delivery, they were returning on Monday.
