Two fraudsters from Manipur were arrested in the national capital for internet hacking and forging of bank documents, police said.

“Thoudam Sanajaoba Singh, 59 and Longiam Nanao Singh, 27 were arrested from Outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy on Saturday for hacking bank accounts and transferring money to fake bank accounts created on the basis of frivolous documents and thereby withdrawing the amount,” said deputy commissioner of police (outer) B S Jaiswal.

“We had received several complaints of cheating wherein online bank accounts were claimed to have been hacked. K P S Malhotra, assistant commissioner of police (Bawana) was given a task to solve the case,” added Jaiswal.

The police also received a complaint from Banwari Lal last week who claimed that his account at HDFC Bank, was hacked by someone and Rs 2 lakh were withdrawn from the account.

On receiving a tip-off, the investigators nabbed duo from their home at Bawana.  During interrogation, both of them admitted their involvement in the forgery. They told police that they are internet hackers and they used to hack the bank accounts by phishing and used to transfer money to the fake accounts created solely for this purpose.

Later, they used to withdraw money from these accounts. Both of them were hired on the commission basis by the gang which has its roots in Nigeria. The arrested said the two Nigerian were in constant touch with them and they used to hack bank accounts at their behest.
