US Air Force chief Gen David Goldfein on Saturday will be the first air chief of a foreign nation to fly the indigenous Tejas Light Combat Aircraft.
Gen Goldfein would take a sortie in a two-seater trainer version of the combat jet at Air Force Station Jodhpur, Defence ministry sources said.
In November, Singapore Defence Minister, Ng Eng Hen was the first foreign dignitary to fly in Tejas, being inducted into the Indian Air Force.
IAF is in the process of raising its first LCA squadron. Five Tejas aircraft have so far been inducted in the 45 Squadron and more are coming.
On Thursday, Gen Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, held a discussion with IAF chief, Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa, at the Air headquarters. Gen Goldfein was accompanied by Gen Terrence O'Shaughnessy, Commander, US Pacific Air Force.
Gen Goldfein also inspected a Guard of Honour at the Air headquarters.
