Hero Glamour has become the country’s largest-selling 125cc motorcycle for four consecutive months (February –May 2016) this year, thus further consolidating Hero’s leadership in the 125cc segment.
With the presence of two popular bikes — Glamour and Super Splendor — Hero has been the market leader in the 125cc segment. Now Glamour has become the single largest-selling brand in this segment.
Hero already has three motorcycle brands, with annual sales of over a million units each – Splendor, Passion and HF Deluxe. (Splendor sells over two million units a year.) Glamour, which bucked the sluggish market environment to grow by over 23% in FY’16, is among the fastest-growing motorcycle brands in the country today.
In a statement, the company said, “Over the years, we have assiduously built up Glamour as a distinct and desirable brand. It’s styling, features and technologies such as Fuel Injection, and the positioning have consistently been in the domain of being Aspirational.”
“So, as the market moved in terms of aspirations, brand Glamour became the natural, brand-by-choice for bikers.”
“We have also had strategic 360 degrees market-specific initiatives for Glamour. For example, while continuing to support the brand in markets where it has been growing, we have strategically expanded its footprint with added efforts in select new markets, where we saw potential for its growth. We have also had focused initiatives such as having a brand ambassador specifically for the southern markets. ”
“Our sales and marketing initiatives — sometimes as micro as focusing on key towns - have also contributed to the growth of Brand Glamour and gain leadership — town by town. ”
The segment will continue to see growth in the medium term as replacement and upgrade demand will drive sales.
